Viewing Dashboards

Notes:

Web is currently in feature preview and as such documentation for this feature is still work in progress

Once a dashboard is opened, users can view and interact with the data through various widgets and filtering options. The dashboard view is designed for easy exploration and analysis of financial data.

Note:

Data displayed in dashboards is subject to the same Role-Based Security rules implemented in the workspace. Users will only see data they have permission to access based on their security settings.

Dashboard Components

Static Filters

Three static filters are always available at the top of every dashboard:

  • Current Period: Select the time period for which data is displayed
  • Comparative Scenario: Choose a scenario to compare against (e.g., Budget, Forecast)
  • Currency: Select the currency for displaying financial values

These filter selections are stored between sessions, maintaining context when returning to dashboards.

Dynamic Filters

In addition to static filters, dashboards may include dynamic filters configured by the dashboard author. These filters provide additional slicing options specific to the dashboard's purpose and data.

Note:

Dynamic filters are defined when building the dashboard and remain consistent for all users viewing that dashboard.

Temporary Filters

Users can add temporary filters to customize their current view without affecting the dashboard definition:

  • Click the Add Filter button to create a session-specific filter
  • Temporary filters remain active only for the current session
  • These filters are removed when closing the dashboard or starting a new session

Dashboard Actions

The following actions are available when viewing a dashboard:

  • Refresh: Recalculates all widgets in the dashboard with the current filter selections and latest data
  • Close: Returns to the dashboard list

Workspace Administrator Actions:

Workspace administrators have additional action buttons:

  • Edit: Opens the dashboard in edit mode to modify widgets, filters, and layout
  • Delete: Removes the dashboard from the workspace (with confirmation prompt)

Dashboard Grid

The dashboard grid displays all widgets configured for the dashboard. Widgets are arranged in a grid layout and can include:

  • Key performance indicators and metrics
  • Data grids with financial details
  • Charts and visualizations
  • Commentary and text blocks

Interacting with Widgets

Widgets support various interactions depending on their type:

Grid Widgets

Grid widgets displaying financial data support drill-down functionality:

  • Double-click on a data cell to drill through to underlying transactions
    • A drill-down dialog appears showing the detailed transactional data
    • Review transaction details, sources, and related information

Other Widget Types

Different widget types may support other interactions such as:

  • Hovering to view additional details
  • Clicking to expand or collapse sections
  • Viewing commentary and annotations

Note:

Widget interaction capabilities depend on the specific widget type and configuration.

Working with Multiple Dashboards

  • Navigate between dashboards using the Close button to return to the dashboard list
  • Filter selections are maintained when switching between dashboards within the same session
  • Each dashboard can have its own set of dynamic filters while sharing the static filter selections
