Sage Intacct connections allow financial and operational data to be loaded from Sage Intacct into xpna for reporting, planning, and analysis.

Connectivity & Security

A Sage Intacct data source within xpna is secured using Sage Intacct Web Services credentials.

The following details are required when a Sage Intacct connection is added:

  • Company ID
  • Webservice User
  • Webservice Password

Note:

At no time does xpna ask for or store a user's personal Sage Intacct login credentials.

The Webservice Password is stored encrypted within xpna.

The Webservice User should have access to the Sage Intacct company and to the financial objects that are expected to be loaded into xpna.

When the Connect button is used, xpna validates the details by creating a Sage Intacct API session. If the connection is successful, the connection details are securely stored and the setup process continues.

Add a Sage Intacct Connection

A Sage Intacct connection can be added from the Connections page by selecting Sage Intacct from the Add New Connection dialog.

After the connector has been selected, the required company and Web Services details can be entered into the connection form.

If the connection details are valid, xpna will retrieve the available Sage Intacct GL dimensions and present them for mapping.

Dimensional Mapping

It is recommended that reading about Dimension Mapping is done before performing mapping for the first time.

If a Sage Intacct company uses GL dimensions, each enabled dimension can be mapped during the initial connection setup.

For each dimension, an existing xpna dimension can be selected or a new dimension can be created.

If multiple connections within the same workspace use similar dimensions, the same xpna dimensions can be reused across those connections. The name of the custom dimension in xpna does not need to be the same as the name used in Sage Intacct.

Initial Load Duration

To extract and process the data into the xpna data warehouse may take anywhere from 1 minute to several hours, depending on the number of transactions stored in Sage Intacct.

Larger Sage Intacct environments, or environments with several active dimensions, may take longer during the first load.

Data Synchronization

xpna does incremental loads from Sage Intacct on a daily schedule set by the user and will also load on demand when the Refresh data action button is used, (this looks like a 'Play' button).

Expected refresh times depend on the number of new or changed records in Sage Intacct since the previous refresh.

Managing the Connection

At any time, a user can disconnect their connection between xpna and Sage Intacct from within xpna on the Connections page.

The connection can also stop working if the Sage Intacct Webservice User is disabled, the password is changed, or the user's Sage Intacct permissions are reduced.

On disconnection, the user's Sage Intacct data is not removed from xpna; only the connection that is used to update data is severed.

If removal of the data is also required, the user can open up a support ticket with us.

Planning Data

Sage Intacct budgets are retrieved as a part of data synchronization, and each is stored in a separate scenario derived from the budget name in Sage Intacct.

xpna does not write planning data back into Sage Intacct because it allows planning data to be created against accounts that do not exist in Sage Intacct. For example, non-financial accounts such as headcount cannot be created in Sage Intacct, so if planning occurs against this account, reporting can only be done from xpna.

Nothing prevents the building of custom Sage Intacct imports from xpna data for loading back into Sage Intacct if that is desired by users.

Data Flows

xpna extracts a number of data sets from Sage Intacct. These are listed below.

xpna does not push data back into Sage Intacct for any data set.
