Commentary

xpna allows for the addition of comments and their history against any datapoint at any level of granularity. This can be achieved via the xpna.COMMENT function, either by overtyping the cell or using the cell-aware context. Additionally, the xpna.DATAWRITE cell-aware context can be used to update a datapoint and include comments.

Note:

If using Role-based Security, commentary is secured using the same security as the data it relates to.

Current Comment

If a comment is already set for a datapoint, it will be displayed in the top section of the commentary, along with the author and the date/time it was made.

There is also a warning marker that might appear in the top right of the existing comment section, indicating that the cell holding the xpna.COMMENT formula does not have Wrap Text enabled, but the current comment contains multiple lines.

Note:

The date/time is shown in the local time of the current machine.

Adding a Comment

To add a new comment, enter the comment and press the Add button.

Note:

Comments can span multiple lines.

History

A full history of the commentary stored against a datapoint can be shown using the Show commentary history button. In this history view, commentary is ordered with the latest comments at the top, and your comments are on the right, resembling a chat or messaging interface.
