Connecting Power BI to xpna

To connect a Power BI dataset to xpna, a user must meet the following prerequisites:

• Have a Power BI Pro license assigned by their organization's IT department.
• Download Power BI Desktop directly or from the Microsoft Store.
• The workspace and thier user must be enabled for Power BI in xpna.

Note:

Only users creating the connection and the reports in Power BI require the Pro license. Users consuming the reports do not need this license.

Templates

xpna provides a Power BI starter template with embedded connection details for use in Power BI Desktop.

To download this template, navigate to Workspace Management, expand the External Connectivity section for Power BI, and click the Download Power BI template button.

Once downloaded, open the file in Power BI Desktop and update the credentials.

Credentials

On first use of a template, the credentials of the current user need to be provided to Power BI for secure connection to xpna. Users should select the Microsoft Account option and log in with the same account they use with xpna, having completed the Guest access invitation process.
