Workspace Enablement
To enable a workspace for Power BI access, a subscription administrator must perform this action through the Subscription Management page.
Navigate to the Workspaces
section on this page, and use the Search for workspaces
option or browse the table of workspaces within the subscription to find the desired workspace.
In the Power BI
column on the right-hand side, there is a toggle button to enable or disable access for each workspace.
Note:
A workspace must have role-based security enabled to use Power BI
Enabling Access
Upon enabling access, a prompt will appear to inform the user of the implications and provide an option to proceed with the enablement or cancel the action.
The consequences of enabling Power BI for a workspace include:
- Data from the enabled workspace will become accessible through an encrypted connection to the Power BI service.
- All non-administrator users will need to be configured with role-based security otherwise they will lose access to all data.
Disabling Access
Similarly, when access is disabled, a prompt will appear to outline the consequences and offer a choice to proceed with the disablement or cancel the action.
The consequences of disabling Power BI for a workspace are:
- All Power BI reports and datasets reliant on data from this workspace will be disconnected and cease to function.
